Job Purpose:

To ensure continued supply of cane for carrying out production as per plan in the short and long term of TN units.

This position is responsible for ensuring cane planting, cane registration, arrangements of harvest & Transport for the standing cane to supply cane to each sugar unit based on their daily cane crushing requirements. Arrange inputs like technical kind like fertilizer, micronutrients etc. in time to cane growers for getting optimum sugar cane yield. Arranging input loan, cane development loan, infrastructure like bore wells, micro irrigations, pipe lines, Lift irrigation projects etc. through banks. Give suitable guidance to his team then and there for smooth running of the cane crushing operation and maintain good relationship with universities, Agri colleges and Govt machineries related to growers, cane harvest worrs.

Responsibility is for Sugar factories located in Nellikuppam and Pugalur Units in the State of Tamilnadu.

The incumbent effectively coordinates with all unit heads and other departments for performing his role effectively.

 Relationship building with local political circle, bureaucrats, opinion makers and touch base with environment.

Work for additional cane command area with local support, bureaucrats and Govt. of Tamilnadu.

Develop good field force for executing the activity plan on time.

 Work for identifying suitability, implementing and arranging required farm machineries’ for both major and minor farm activities

Identify irrigation projects in coordination with local team and Govt. of Tamilnadu in our cane command area

Strategise and develop cane in new and potential areas by converting other major crop area.

Retain cane growers permanently with our business work in coordination with R&D team and with research stations, universities for farm productivity and improve the economic levels of cane growers.

Work to arrange and protect Harvest &Transport labour, make effective utilization and ensure zero outstanding.

Focus and develop Systems and procedures in robust manner. Create proper controls, checks & balances

Arrange funding for cane area development through SDF. Making available of fund for farm working capital at concessional rate through banking systems

 Proactive planning for new green field factories, long lease for future business development in this and near by states

·        Ensure required cane volume for the sugar unit’s cane crushing capacity each finance year.

·        Arrange proactive planning for raising sugar cane seed nurseries and main crop for unit’s plan 

·        Coordinate with units ensure supply of quality cane for factory crushing and help to achieve planned sugar recovery %.

·        Coordinate with banks arrange crop production input loans and term loans in time to growers

·        Participate in the SISMA and sugar directorate meetings and give inputs to the management to take appropriate decisions

·        Play a key role in all units planning and developing new additional cane area for and reduce the cost cane

·        Coordinated with Agri university and research stations for cane future varietal development
